Information Technology Architect (ITA) (Stream 1 - Technical)

Education & Experience

Level 1 : Generalist Architect (GA)

A - Successful completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field from a recognized academic institution;

And

B - A minimum of five (5) years professional work experience within an Information Technology (IT) field, of which a minimum of two (2) years is experience as an IT architect in a multidisciplinary team of at least five (5) team members. The nature of the projects (one (1) or more) must cover three (3) or more architecturally significant considerations. The duration of the projects must be a minimum of six (6) months.

OR

Served as an Information Technology Architect for the past eight (8) years on IT projects of varying depth and duration. IT projects cited must have multi-disciplinary organized teams of at least five (5) team members within the client organizations. The nature of the projects (one (1) or more) must cover three (3) or more architecturally significant considerations. The minimum duration of the projects must be six (6) months.

Level 2 : Specialist Architect (SA)

A - Successful completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field from a recognized academic institution;

And

B - A minimum of eight (8) years professional work experience within an IT field, of which a minimum of four (4) years is experience as an architect in a multidisciplinary team of at least seven (7) team members. Their participation on the projects (two (2) or more) must demonstrate their discipline specialization. The duration of the projects must be a minimum of six (6) months.

OR

Served as an Information Technology Architect for the past ten (10) years on IT projects of varying depth and duration. IT projects cited must demonstrate experience with multi-disciplinary matrix organized teams of at least seven (7) team members for a minimum duration of six (6) months. Their participation on the projects (two (2) or more) must demonstrate their discipline specialization.

Level 3 : Enterprise Architect (EA)

A - Successful completion of a post secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field from a recognized academic institution;

And

B - A minimum of ten (10) years professional work experience within an IT field, of which a minimum of six (6) years is experience as an architect in a multidisciplinary team of at least ten (10) team members. The nature of the projects (three (3) or more) must demonstrate enterprise involvement. The duration of each project must be a minimum of one (1) year.

OR

Served as an Information Technology Architect for the past twelve (12) years on IT projects of varying depth and duration. IT projects cited must have multi-disciplinary organized teams of at least ten (10) team members within the client organizations. The nature of the projects (three (3) or more) must demonstrate enterprise involvement. The duration of the projects must be a minimum of one (1) year.

Roles and Deliverables could include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and develop and present proposals about technological opportunities to satisfy business needs.
  • Identify, analyze, evaluate and propose alternatives and strategies to apply technology to address business needs.
  • Develop and promote architectures, frameworks, strategies and roadmaps for architecturally significant capabilities to meet business, data, application and technical requirements to evolve the enterprise architecture.
  • Identify standards, policies and best practices that govern a particular solution.
  • Assist in identifying drivers and requirements for architecturally significant capabilities.
  • Assure the integration of all aspects of IT solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends and provide information, direction and support for emerging technologies.
  • Perform impact analysis of IT technology changes.
  • Assist project teams in the design and lead the implementation of new solutions based on business requirements and IT standards, policies, best practices and strategies.
  • Review application and program design and technical infrastructure design to ensure adherence to standards, identify deficiencies and recommend performance improvements.
  • Provide clear and consistent direction, guidance over data architecture, data modelling, metadata management and data delivery services.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancement and evolution of data related infrastructure.
  • Provide in-depth reviews of computer systems, infrastructure components and network topologies, along with data exchange requirements, as well as network and performance needs, and formulate configurations enhancements to support them.
  • Provide leadership/skills transfer with respect to processes, methodologies and best practices.
